Expense Categories and Tax Deductions

Proper categorization of expenses helps with financial reporting and identifying tax deductions.

Default Categories

TallySpark includes common categories:

  • Advertising & Marketing - Ads, promotions, branding
  • Office Supplies - Stationery, supplies
  • Software & Subscriptions - Apps, tools, services
  • Travel - Transportation, lodging
  • Meals & Entertainment - Client dinners, events
  • Professional Services - Legal, accounting, consulting
  • Equipment - Computers, hardware
  • Utilities - Phone, internet, power

Creating Custom Categories

  1. Go to Settings → Invoice Categories
  2. Click Add Category
  3. Enter category name and description
  4. Save the category

Tax-Deductible Expenses
